Southampton boss: Man Utd celebrated like they’d won the Premier League!

Southampton manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, was proud of his team after they lost 3-2 to Manchester United at home.

The Saints had a two-goal lead from the first half, but United scored three unanswered goals to win the game.

Edinson Cavani netted the winner after a near-post header in injury time.

Hasenhuttl felt his side gave United a great game, evidenced by how much he said United’s players were celebrating in the changing rooms after the match.

“We hear them celebrating in their dressing room,” the Austrian told reporters.

“You know what you have done and how tough you have been because they were celebrating like they had won the Premier League here.

“They are celebrating like this because it was a tough game.

“They had to play the players they can to win against us and we can be proud of what we have done.”

On the match, Hasenhuttl added: “We have seen a good game. It was interesting to watch.

“We had a very good first half – second half they were very strong.

“We tried to calm the game down but when you are against a team that has so much quality – Cavani was then pressure in the box and causing us problems.

“Then you end up conceding three goals, especially the third one is not really necessary, I think.

“But what can I say? We did a fantastic job I think – the way we played for 60 minutes was unbelievable for me.

“But it’s clear they have quality to hit you on the back foot. We tried to be a strong as possible on them and also had some good moments.

“We never stopped believing in what we are doing.

“It’s hurting a little bit but I’m proud of the team at the moment.”
