Uruguay wants Man Utd striker Cavani against Brazil

Uruguay are working to ensure that Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani can play against Brazil next month.

Brazil has rules that state any foreigners who arrive must state whether they have been in specific nations over the past 14 days, with the list including England.

Anyone who has been to England must either isolate or be deported, which would make it impossible for Cavani to take part in Uruguay’s game against Brazil in Brazil next month.

Regarding Cavani possibly being unavailable for that game, AUF vice-president Gaston Tealdi told Futbol: “That is handled by the coaching staff and sports management.

“They are talking directly with the sports management of Brazil and seeing the authorisations that are necessary.

“The steps are being taken and eventually it will be the coaching staff that will make a decision.”
