2018/19 UEFA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SQUAD: Oshoala missing

Nigeria international and Barcelona forward, Asisat Oshoala was not listed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Team for the 2018/19 campaign which was announced on Monday.

The Nigerian scored Barca’s consolatory goal in their 4-1 defeat at the hands of eventual champions, Lyon in the final at Budapest last Saturday after coming on in the second half.

It was however not enough to guarantee her a spot in the star studded line up dominated by Lyon and Chelsea.

Perhps her inability to make the squad stems from the fact that she did not get to play enough matches in Europe having joined the Spanish side on loan in January.

That notwithstanding, Oshoala entered the history books for being the first Nigerian to score in the final of the elite competition. She is also the first Africa female player to feature in the final.

She is expected to join her national teammates in Austria today for preparations ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup which begins on June 7 in France.
