2019 AFCON: Kalu’s fitness level worries Rohr

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr is a little bit worried about the fitness level of one if his dependable players Bordeaux of France wing attacker Samuel Kalu but he is confident that the speed star will be back to full fitness before the start of the Egypt 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Eagles’ Manager told SportingLife that Kalu is gradually coming back to full fitness as a result of the injury he had while playing for his French club.

Rohr also believed that Kalu would have ended the season on high with his club Bordeaux if not for family situations that really affected the player when he had to battle with psychological effects of the kidnap of his mother at their home town in Nigeria. His mother was finally rescued by the Police. Kalu had to relocate his mother to Lagos from his home town in the Eastern part of Nigeria.

He confided in SportingLife.ng that he has been doing all he could to boost Kalu’s confidence level and most importantly his fitness level. Rohr disclosed that he and his assistants are already working f Kalu and some other players in the Eagles to be 100 percent fit before the beginning of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
