2019 AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS: Rohr to earn $55,000 monthly after pay rise

Nigeria’s senior soccer side, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has been rewarded with a $60,000 pay rise by cheiftains of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), having fulfilled all the conditions for such a gesture in his last contract with the the soccer house.

The implication of this $60,000 pay rise is that Rohr will be paid $55,000 monthly, a $5,000 increase from his initial $50,000 monthly pay under the previous contract. Some of the changes effected in Rohr’s contract is his nomemclature of Head Coach, not Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, not all the national teams, which have their individual coaches and backroom staff.

Interestingly, Rohr has accepted to dish out instructions to his players inside the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba against Seychelles on March 23 and against the Pharaohs of Egypt on March 26.

This new development settles the seeming rift between the coach and his employers who have insisted that the two matches against Seychelles and Egypt must be played at the Asaba Stadium.

Sportinglife gathered that the manager was miffed over the report that he could lose his job if he insisted on not playing at the Keshi stadium due to its bad playing turf.

Rohr accepted NFF’s submission that decisions on where the Eagles should play are not in his contract with the federation. He, however, felt that he had a right to express his reservations on issues that were inimical to his team’s chances of winning games or making such pitches comfortable for his boys to play on.
