2019 Canberra Classic: Oboh gets rave rating for LET tournament

Even before the tee-off of the first Ladies European Tour (LET) in 2019 tagged ActewAGL Canberra Classic in Australia, the organizers of the three-day tournament has described Nigeria’s Georgia Oboh as one of the rookies to watch out for in the competition.

According to LET twitter handle, Oboh was described as a player in good shape for the championship.

“Nigerian rookie @georgiaoboh looking sharp on the first tee ahead of her pro debut on the LET at the ActewAGL Canberra Classic @RoyalCanberra #Australia @ALPGtour.”

Oboh has arrived Canberra, Australia yesterday is looking forward to compete alongside other debutants in the tournament.

Marking her 18th birthday, Oboh is now legally allows to compete as professional golfer starting with the Australia LET tournament.

The Edo State-born teenager will be flying the Nigerian flag once again in far away Australia

Alongside her dad – Godfrey, who serves as her caddie left South Africa after her last tournament in the South African Women’s Masters where she finished 27th.

A confident Oboh said: “I’m hitting the ball great and I’m still working on parts of my short game to be more consistent but this week is a different challenge as I once again battle a new kind of grass on the golf course, atmosphere and altitudes

“Once again as a rookie on tour, I would be looking to gain more experience and learn more about the game and myself in this first year so the first aim is to test my swing out here and remain consistent for the season. I am grateful to God, my family and friends that have made a lot of sacrifices to get me here and I promise
to do my best,” she added.
