To claim the bronze after losing the semifinal bout to Japan’s Risako Kawai on Wednesday, Adekuoroye did not waste time in dismissing Moldova’s Anastasia Nichita 10-0.

Already, she has booked her place at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for making it to the last four of the championship.

Having won bronze and silver at the 2015 and 2017 editions of the competition, Adekuoroye has etched her name in the annals of history as the first Nigerian to achieve such feat.

Aminat Adeniyi and Blessing Onyebuchi have missed out from the podiums as well as the Olympic Games slots, but Blessing Oborududu is still in the race for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games ticket in the 68kg of freestyle.

This was confirmed by the President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation Daniel Igali, who said the Balyesa-born wrestler will be fighting in one of the Repechage bouts with winners qualifying for Tokyo 2020.

Oborududu will take on New Zealand’s Michelle Montague and it was the second-round loss by Aminat Adeniyi that ended her dream of fighting for Olympics slot as her conqueror; Ukraine’s Yulia Ostaphchuk was beaten in the quarterfinal by eventual finalist, Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova.
