The two-time Commonwealth gold medalist, who claimed her 6th African Championships gold medal at the just concluded 2020 Africa Wrestling Championships in Algiers, Algeria, said she feels excited at her current position.

“I feel so excited to be world number one, I’m happy, I’m glad and it gives me confidence that I am there already.I’m not under pressure. I have been ranked number one before and I know how I feel. It’s just like an encouragement for me. It gives me more hope that my Olympic dream will come true by God’s grace.

The world wrestling silver medalist however noted that she needs to attend more competitions and train outside the country to make her quest for an Olympic medal a reality.

“I need to train harder and every competition whether you win or lose, you make one mistake or the other. So we are home now and we will return to training to correct my mistakes. One other thing that I think can really help me for the Olympics is for me to train outside the country. We have training camps outside Nigeria, we have different hands to train with and I still need to go to at least three competitions before the Olympics. By God’s grace I’m hoping to win gold and I believe all is possible,” she told Sportinglife.ng.
