Mikel falls with Chinese club

John Mikel Obi was at the receiving end with club, Tianjin Teda as they fell 2-1 to Jiangsu Suning in the Chinese Super  League.

The Super Eagles captain who missed Nigeria’s friendly matches due to work permit issues was in action for the entire game that produced five yellow cards on both sides.

Jiangsu scored its goals through Richmond Boakye and Alex Teixeir in the 75th and 77th minutes, before Tianjin pulled one back in the 81st minute through Johnathan.

This will be Tianjin’s second defeat of the season from four matches, which leaves them in the 9th position.

Statistics showed it was a close encounter  in terms of ball possession with Tianjin having 52% and the home side 48%.

Tianjin are away to Beijing Guoan in their next game on April 6.
