Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu is confident that his side can overturn their 0 -1 defeat to Djoliba A.C and still qualify for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

MFM lost 0-1 at home to the visitors who dictated the pace of the game in the first leg played at the Agege Stadium on Sunday which has given the Malian side an advantage going into the second leg in two weeks time in Mali.

Although, Ilechukwu admitted that Djoliba A.C were better than his team during Sunday’s game but he is optimistic that his boys can do the unthinkable in Mali in the second leg.

In a chat with SportingLife.ng, Ilechukwu described the outcome of the game as a bad result.

“It was a bad game, bad result and that is football. Every coach is always positive and I am positive (going to the second leg) as well. Malians have an advantage now but in football anything can happen,” Ilechukwu said to SportingLife.ng.

The young coach also said they never underrated the Malian side

He added: “We don’t underrate any team. we use what we have and you don’t use what you don’t have. When the league started we said so many things about the signing of new players but nothing was done about it. So this is what we have.

“When you constantly use the same players for all matches so you can understand that there would be fatigue. So maybe that was responsible for their low performance but the Malians were better than us today.”
