Men’s Team Table Tennis final: Nigeria’s flag missing in medal celebration

Nigeria’s national flag was visibly missing in the Men’s Table Tennis Team event final between Nigeria and India at the Oxenford studio last Monday.

It’s no longer news that the Asians won gold by beating the Segun Toriola led side 3-0, but events took a dramatic tone when the venue announcer called for both the Indian and the Nigerian national flags to be flown high.

It was only the Indian flags that were seen flying high by the appreciative crowd at the sprawling arena with the green and white nowhere to be found.

Nigeria’s sports minister, Solomon Dalung who led his entourage to the venue of the final watched helplessly as no member of his delegation remembered to come with the Nigerian flag.
