Leicester Player OF The Year Award: Musa makes list

. Ndidi, Iheanacho battle for young player award

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has been shortlisted for the 2017/2018 Leicester Young Player of the Season award currently held by compatriot and club-mate, Wilfred Ndidi, the club’s website has announced.

Nigeria international, Ahmed Musa is a surprise inclusion on the 32-man list of players that will battle for the 2017/2018  Leicester Player of the Season award, despite his loan move to CSKA of Moscow, the club’s website has announced.

Musa is joined by fellow compatriots, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, England international Jamie Vardy and Algeria’s Islam Slimani to mention a few.

The list contains all the players that were registered for the season.

The nomination of Musa should come as a surprise, considering the fact that it was his lack of playing time that made him leave the EPL side for CSKA in January.

For the Leicester Young Player of the Season award, Iheanacho will battle current holder, Ndidi who must also see off competition from Demarai Gray, Ben Chilwell, Fousseni Diabaté, Harvey Barnes, Hamza Choudhury and Josh Knight to retain his award that he won last season.

Kelechi’s name also features in the award for the goal of the season along with Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki.

The former junior international has been enjoying playing time under new manager, Claude Puel.

The club has singled out one of his goals against Peterborough in the FA Cup fourth round fixture in January which  Leicester won 5-1.

Iheanacho struck twice in the 12th and 29th minutes.

Leicester City supporters have been asked to start voting for the various categories before the April 20 deadline.

The winners will be announced at the end of season dinner on May 1, 2018.

Proceeds from the ceremony will go towards the LCFC Foxes Foundation, which has supported dozens of worthy causes over the
years.
