Arsenal fans blast Iwobi on Twitter

Arsenal fans took to Twitter and other social media platforms to slam Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, after the Gunners Europa League return leg clash against  CSKA Moscow at the VEB Arena on Thursday night.

The Arsenal player was criticised for missing a wonderful chance to score, after receiving a pass from Mesut Ozil, with just two minutes to end the game. He was on the pitch from the 77th minute.

This led to Arsenal fans taking to Twitter to give the player a piece of their mind.

Iwobi has also not been spared by former players of the club who feel that he is not ripe for the big stage.

Before Thursday’s clash, Ex-Arsenal defender, Martin Keown had called on Iwobi to step up his game.

In an interview with the Daily Mail of London, Keown accused Iwobi of being a better player for Nigeria and not for Arsenal.

“He has been in the first team for three seasons now but has not really trained on. He’s neat and tidy but is not decisive enough. He’s scored more goals for Nigeria than Arsenal this season –two goals in 32 games is not good enough for an attacking player, even if a lot of those are from the bench,” Keown told Daily Mail.

Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey struck late second half goals to give Arsenal a 2-2 draw and 6-3 on aggregate to move into the semi final of the Europa League.
