Alex Iwobi, who drew several criticisms from Arsenal fans for his woeful performance in Thursday’s win against CSKA Moscow, has become the third Super Eagles player to reach the semi finals of the Europa League.

He now joins teammates, Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi who both did it with Chelsea.

However, Iwobi is the first Nigerian to reach the competition’s last four after five years.

The duo of Mikel and Moses made history with Chelsea in 2013,  after they defeated Russian club, Rubin Kazan in the quarter final with Moses on target in both legs. Chelsea went ahead to win the trophy defeating Benfica 2-1 at the Amsterdam Arena on May 15.

Arsenal who progressed on a 6-3 aggregate have been drawn to face Atletico Madrid in the semi finals.
