Nigeria finishes 9th as Commonwealth Games Ends

Team Nigeria finished 9th on the medals table to end their campaign at the Commonwealth Games which came to an end on Sunday in Gold Coast, Australia.

 

 

Team Nigeria finished 9th on the medals table to end their campaign at the Commonwealth Games which came to end on Sunday in Gold Coast, Australia. 44 countries took part in the 11-day competition.

Sportinglife.ng on Saturday had reported that Nigeria dropped to number 9 on Saturday, a position they held to till the close of the games.

They won 24 medals comprising nine gold, nine silver and six bronze medals to finish as the second best African country behind South Africa who were sixth with 15 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze medals.

Australia were first with England, India, Canada New Zealand following in that order.

Africa’s representatives, Kenya and Uganda occupied the 14th and 15th positions respectively with a total of 17(4 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze) and 6(3 gold, 1 Silver and 2 bronze) medals respectively.
