President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has explained that there would be no appearance fee for Congo DR for facing the Super Eagles in next month’s international friendly.

He however said that that the federation will be responsible for their return tickets and accommodation for two nights.

“We are making arrangements to fly in the Congolese team because that is our responsibility. We are not given them any money. And l can tell you that they are happy with the arrangement,”” said Pinnick to SportingLife.ng.

The NFF President also explained the choice of Congo DR.

“The friendly is not only meant to be a send forth game for the Super Eagles who are making their fifth World Cup appearance at the 2018 tournament in Russia,”

“Congo DR are like 10 steps ahead of us on the FIFA ranking and we just want to humble them here before going to England,’ he added.

Next month’s friendly which will be played in Portharcourt, Rivers State is the third for the Eagles this year after the Poland and Serbia matches.

Abuja was reportedly considered for the match, but the inability of the sports ministry to raise the over N70m to fix the Abuja National Stadium made the NFF move it to Portharcourt.
