CD Feirense goalkeeper, Dele Alampasu has been given another opportunity to convince Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr that he deserves to be in the team for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick who made the disclosure said that the former Golden Eaglets first choice is among the goalkeepers that would be assessed by Eagles keeper trainer Enrico Pionetti before the Season ends in May.
Plans are underway for Pionetti to visit Francis Uzoho, Alampasu and Daniel Akpeyi. They need to be assessed. it is like doing a double check before the coaches take a final decision,” said Pinnick.
The former Golden Eaglets first choice who was part of the Eagles squad for some of the qualifying matches, has been overlooked by Rohr due to his lack of action for his Portuguese club.
This is a good one for Alampasu who had not given up on making the team, going by his recent comments in the media.
There was however no mention of Dele Aiyenugba and Austin Ejide by Pinnick, suggesting that Rohr may have finally closed the doors on the keepers.
