Akwa United hat-trick hero, Michael Ibe has disclosed that he wept uncontrollably after his side crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff tie to Al Hilal of Sudan.
Ibe said he felt bad that his three goals couldn’t secure the Promise Keepers passage to the group stage of the competition.
“I wept uncontrollably at the end of the game and had to be consoled by my team,” Ibe told SportingLife.ng.
“I thought my goals would be enough with the complementary efforts from my teammates and I was really pained. It was a sad day for the team but I am sure we are going to come out of this setback stronger. It was their early goal that changed the game,” he continued.
Ibe is the team’s leading scorer with four goals in all competitions.
