As the highest Court in the land is set to deliver judgement on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) election crisis on April 27, NFF President Amaju Pinnick has expressed confidence that it will be in his favour.

Pinnck said he is not expecting the apex court to rule otherwise since he did not violate the NFF electoral statutes.

Speaking to Sportinglife.ng in Abuja, Pinnick revealed that the crisis has affected the sponsorship drive of the present board, as corporate bodies were not willing to identify with the federation.

He said most of the funds that the federation was spending on its programmes were from the Federal Government’s monthly subvention and friends of the glasshouse.

“I can assure you that once this case is over, more sponsors will identify with the NFF, particularly now that the Super Eagles are going to the World Cup in Russia. Corporate bodies that were initially scared of doing business with us due to the court case will return. My dream is to make the NFF financially autonomous, free from government grants and truly independent”. Pinnick said.

The NFF President further added that Ambassador Chris Giwa remains his friend and he has plans to reconcile with him after the supreme court judgement. ” Chris Giwa is a major stakeholder in Nigerian football and I know he has a lot to contribute to the development of the game, such a person should be encouraged and not to be discouraged,” he concluded.

It would be recalled that the NFF election leadership crisis started in September 2014 with the emergence of Pinnick as the NFF President, which prompted the Giwa faction to go to court.
