I want to play Argentina with Messi, Aguero–Rohr

Super Eagles Head coach Gernot Rohr has said he is looking forward to facing Argentina with their full complement of players at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The coach has voiced his feelings after Lionel Messi missed last year’s friendly against Nigeria and Sergio Aguero who is injured.

“We beat them in the friendly last year without Messi. So l want to see him play this time, so that if we defeat them the second time, we would say Messi played. Do not forget that we did not have Victor Moses with us in that game,”” he jokingly said.

On whether he is happy that Aguero is injured, Rohr said he has no reason to be. He said no coach prays for a player to be injured, even if he belongs to the opposing team.

”Why would l be happy that Aguero is sick? I am not a heartless coach. And l do not think there is any coach whose wish for any player is to be injured. I am praying for his recovery and for the others. I want to see them play,” Rohr told SportingLife.ng.

Nigeria has never won Argentina in all their meetings at the World Cup, but shocked the South Americans 4-2 last November in a friendly which Rohr is looking forward to repeat.
