Qatar 2022: Eagles would win World Cup–Ekong

Although the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers is still far away, Buraspor Nigeria defender, William Troost-Ekong is confident that the Super Eagles would qualify and be among the favourites to win the trophy.

The defender maintained that the team would have grown in maturity and experience in four year’s time, unlike this year’s tournament that they have not been tipped to qualify from the group stage let alone get to the final.

While baring his mind on Nigeria’s chances in an interview on Kwese Sports official Youtube channel, Ekong  pointed to the team’s hunger to excel as its driving force which he noted would keep them together for a long time.

“Our strength is our hunger to do well, but the disadvantage there is that we do not have the experience of the other teams going to Russia, which hopefully we would have in four years time. So l think people should watch out for us in Qatar,” he declared.

Ekong, who is happy to have made the right decision to play for Nigeria, said his expectations towards the World Cup is for every player to be fit and ready to play.

“This is a new generation that is coming through and l am really excited that l am part of it. We all know that the stakes are high and I pray everyone is fit so that we can display that fighting spirit,” said the player.
