Agents who have been on Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr to include their players in the team ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup in exchange for money have been told to forget it.

In an interview with SportingLife.ng this week, the Eagles head coach also said he can’t be friends with agents because he has a reputation to protect.

“They call me from time to time which is normal. Only last week l got a call from an agent that manages a particular player in Italy. The player scored recently. But l told him to send the link for me to watch him on Youtube which he did, although l had heard about him. I don’t see it as pressure when they call me.

“I can never take money from them because l have a reputation to protect. They are also not my friends. Sometimes l don’t like seeing them in our camp, but they still come,” he said.

As stated in his contract, Rohr is allowed to select his players without any undue interference from any quarters. “And that is what l want to do. Even my officials don’t put me under pressure.

The only area where Rohr has been flexible,  are the choice of players that make the team from the domestic league, which he has conceded to his local assistants since they have a better understanding of the terrain  than him. “But that does not mean we don’t sit down and think through objectively,” he concluded.
