95 players for third Ex Squash Pros junior tournament

No fewer than 95 junior squash players in both boys and girls categories will be jostling for reputable prizes at the third edition of the Ex-Squash Pros U-13 and U-16 national tournament  at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The tournament which is being put together by former Nigeria international squash players will see 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory take part.

Speaking at the pre-event briefing, the Chairman of Planning Committee of the event, Laurel Mubo, stated that the tournament was a means of contributing to the survival of the game in Nigeria.

“We, former players came together to restore the lost glory of the game in Nigeria and we thought we should get involved by organizing a national junior tournament, which this is the third and still counting.”

“Every player will go home with gift items such as squash bags, racket, eye goggle, t-shirts and also winners will get prizes and trophies in both categories,” she added.

Speaking to one of the junior players competing in the U-16 girls category, Itukpe Favour, on her preparedness towards to game, she said: “Last year I lost in the semi finals stage but this year i am determined to see the finals and probably win because my only strong counterpart is Aminat Musa but she is not participating in this tournament and I have trained for her, so I think I don’t have any challenge and I am ready for the game.”

The competition will be a three day event and will round up on the 27th April, 2019 with dignitaries to grace the finals event.
