Modric rubbishes Real Madrid exit talks

In the wake of Kylian Mbappe’s shocking last-minute switch to snub Real Madrid and stay in Paris, Luka Modric has assured fans that he won’t do the same.

Modric, 36, will become a free agent this summer after a decade in the Spanish capital but has insisted he will stay at the Bernabeu, ruling out any chance of an Mbappe-style U-turn.

Mbappe shocked the Spanish giants on Saturday by agreeing a new three-year deal at PSG worth more than £650,000 a week, despite initially pushing to join Madrid earlier this year.

In a light-hearted interview with FRONT FACING Modric made no secret of his loyalty to Real Madrid, laughing at the reporter’s suggestions that he could “be like Mbappe” and change his mind.

One of the reasons the veteran might be delaying contract negotiations is to avoid unnecessary distractions ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League final against Liverpool on Saturday.

The Croatian played a key role in the final against Liverpool four years ago, helping Real Madrid to a 3-1 win in kyiv.

In a bid to lure Mbappé away from his hometown, the Spanish giants were reportedly prepared to match the deal offered by PSG.

But the French international ultimately decided to commit to another three years in Paris and immediately followed it up with a hat-trick against Metz on Saturday.
