Wikki Tourists FC Technical Adviser, Aliyu Zubairu has absorbed his players of blames for their 1- 0 home defeat to Sunshine Stars FC in the match day 5 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match played on Sunday at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
Zubairu, who accepted full responsibility for the defeat, said that luck eluded his team during the match, stressing that the Big Elephants got over five good chances to make the difference but they could not utilise them due to anxiety.
The former Akwa United coach described the result as disturbing but assured that the mistakes will be corrected in their subsequent matches.
He, however, apologised to the teeming supporters of the club, who traveled to Gombe for the match and went home disappointed, not to lose hope and continue to pray for the club especially that the league has just started.
Zubairu who was visibly shocked said: “I have taken the situation in good faith as one of the challenges of the job but I will not allow it to hunt the team and distract our plans for the next match.”
Wikki Tourists will take on Insurance of Benin on Wednesday 3/2/2019 in a re-scheduled match day 1 of the NPFL.
