Brume Leaps To Long Jump Bronze in Doha
Ese Brume became the first Nigerian to pick a medal at the ongoing IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha after claiming the bronze in the long jump event on Sunday night.
The 23 year old leaped a distance of 6.91m behind favourite, Germany’s Malaika Mihambo (7.30m) and USA’s Kenyattia Hackworth (6.92m).
In the first and second Brume took the lead after leaping 6.83m but allowed Mihambo overtake her in the third round with a 7.30m.
In the fifth round, Brume slipped from second to third after Hackworth soared a centimetre better with her 6.92m effort to win the silver.

The Nigerian who made the final of the event at the Olympics three years ago on her debut has now moved from 10th in 2017 in London where she jumped a mediocre 6.38m to third two years later.
