Leicester star names who to blame for Liverpool bashing
Leicester shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel has hit out at referee Michael Oliver for awarding Liverpool a penalty in Leicester’s 4-0 home defeat on Boxing Day.
The Foxes were trailing to a Roberto Firmino header when Oliver pointed to the spot with 20 minutes left to play.
Oliver penalised Leicester centre half Caglar Soyuncu for handball in the penalty area from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner-kick.
And Leicester captain Schmeichel criticised Oliver’s decision to award Liverpool a penalty.
‘I think 4-0 was a bit tough,’ Schmeichel told Amazon Prime Video following the match.
‘We were in the game until the referee had to make himself a hero. We lost composure but they are the best side in the world at the moment, them and Manchester City. They are the type of teams we look to strive to be.
‘Listen, Dermot [Gallagher] will be on Sky saying “it was a great decision, the referee was brave”.
