Charlton Boss hails Aribo after criticisng move to Rangers

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has performed a dramatic u-turn and claimed he’s delighted with Joe Aribo‘s progression since moving to Rangers – and even insisted he’s ‘over the moon’ to see the Nigerian international flourish north of the border.

As we told you at the time, Bowyer was criticised by Gers supporters last summer after criticising Aribo’s decision to leave English football for the Scottish Premiership and suggested moving to Ibrox represented a step backwards in his career.

Aribo has gone on to cement himself as a regular first-team pick under Steven Gerrard this season and the 23-year-old scored his seventh goal of the campaign in last weekend’s 4-1 win away to Hamilton Accies in the Scottish Cup.

And it seems Aribo’s impressive form has prompted a change in attitude from Bowyer, who said via talkSPORT: “I’m over the moon for Joe.

“All I want him to be is successful and that’s all I’ve ever wanted.

“I love the kid and he improved under us.

“Obviously I would’ve loved for him to have stayed with us now but he’s in Scotland, doing well for Rangers, so I’ve got to be happy for him and Rangers.
