Barca president eases squad tension after meeting Messi, others

Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has eased tension between himself and senior players.

The locker room were shocked last week over claims the board hired an online PR company to disparage both current and former players critical of the current regime.

Mundo Deportivo says Bartomeu met with the squad’s four leaders, Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué and Sergi Roberto to discuss the scandal.

And it’s suggested his approach has paid off, with the players now satisfied with Bartomeu’s explanation.

It was agreed by all parties to ignore the bad press and instead focus on their on-field targets.

Barça have now entered a decisive week with the Champions League round of 16 first leg at Napoli and the El Clásico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
