Mata wants to ‘win a title’ with Man Utd this season, rejects massive offer

Juan Mata has rejected a huge offer to join an unnamed Saudi Arabian club – believing he can win a trophy with Manchester United this season.

The Spaniard has yet to make a Premier League appearance this campaign, instead reduced to Carabao Cup apperances.

At present, Fred, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and summer signing Donny van de Beek are all ahead of Mata in the pecking order.

In his pair of starts, the former Chelsea star has shone for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, winning Man of the Match in the two United victories.

Claims emerged over the weekend that a club from Saudi Arabia had offered the midfielder a highly lucrative chance to leave Man Untied, with just one-year left on his Old Trafford contract.

AS have gone into more detail on the proposed offer to Mata, claiming the first contract was worth €16million.

However, after Mata’s agent and father turned that one down, the proposed salary was increased to €20m.

Manchester United are looking to plot their path back to the top. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

Despite the huge payrise on offer, Mata is insistent he will stay with the Red Devils and force his way into Solskjaer’s line-up.

The report suggests that despite United’s shaky start to the season, the 32-year-old wants to stay in England, and is convinced they will win a title this season.

Mata has one-year left on his current deal, but does have the option to extend that for a further 12 months next summer.

Solskjaer is still a huge admirer of the World Cup winner labelling him a “valuable member of the squad”.
