Barca ‘choose’ next manager, Koeman to be sent packing

A stunning report has suggested that Barcelona have already chosen the man who will replace Ronald Koeman in their dugout next season.

Although the Catalan club did well to enter into a LaLiga title race considering how they started the season, it all came crashing down on Sunday when Koeman’s men suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Celta Vigo.

With Barca having now lost to Celta Vigo and Granada, and drawn with Levante, in the league in recent weeks, it appears the Dutchman could very well be replaced ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

According to Sport, the Blaugrana have decided that Koeman will not continue in his position, with Al-Sadd boss Xavi Hernandez reportedly being lined up to succeed him.

The former Spain midfielder, who is widely considered among the greatest players in Barcelona’s history, made 767 appearances for the club between 1998 to 2015.

Koeman confirmed on the weekend that he did, in fact, meet with president Joan Laporta last week to discuss a few squad matters, although he admitted he could not reveal what was said.

Xavi has reportedly arrived in Spain for a vacation, with many believing he will hold talks with his ex-club over the potentially soon-to-be vacant managerial position.

While the former Netherlands boss could soon be on his way out of the Camp Nou, he did claim the 2020/21 Copa del Rey trophy with an impressive 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the final.
