Abdallah: Why I extended my contract with Enyimba

Enyimba head coach, Usman Abdallah has stated that he agreed to continue working with the People’s Elephant to ensure that he consolidates on the team’s strong showing in the league and in the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

The People’s Elephant were semi-finalists in Africa’s second-tier club competition and they were fourth in the league while also finishing as quarter-finalists in the Aiteo Cup and Abdallah who oversaw the turnaround explained that it was important that they sustain what they achieved in the just-concluded season.

He said they he decided to agree in principle to an extension pending when final details of his contract papers will be sent to enable him to forge ahead from where he stopped in the just-concluded season.

Abdallah told SportingLife.ng that he took many things into consideration before agreeing to continue working with Enyimba and that the objective is to ensure that they perform far better than the just concluded season.

“I have agreed to an extension to my contract. It is actually a year contract with an option for another year. I will have the opportunity to renew the contract at the expiration of the next season based on how results and other things pan out at the end of the season,” Abdallah told SportingLife.ng.

“I want to continue from where I stopped and it is my pleasure to continue working with Enyimba for another season. I have told the management some of the changes I want and the reform that must take place before the start of the season.”
