Abramovich won’t sell Chelsea — Mikel

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi remains resolute that Chelsea owner and Russia billionaire Roman Abramovich won’t allow the club go down despite quit rumours.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, Abramovich is Britain’s 13th-richest man, with a net worth of £9.3bn and is reportedly close to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

In a video monitored by Sportinglife.ng, Mikel who is said to be close to the Russia tycoon expressed his confidence that the Stamford Bridge side is in good hands.

“Not worried, I’m not worried. Chelsea is a massive team, I think over the years the players who have been there over 15-20 years have tried to build this team to the standard it is today.

It is going to be a shame to see this team go down the drain, I don’t think Abramovich is going to let that happen, I don’t think Roman and Marina Granovskaia currently Football Director will let that happen.

The club is in pretty good hands, and I’m sure it will be sorted soon.

“The fans should be rest assured that things will be sorted out soon, Chelsea Football Club is in a safe hand with Abramovich, said the former Chelsea player.

It was announced last week by Chelsea that their stadium redevelopment plans have been put on hold by Abramovich.

This is as a result of visa problems faced by Abramovich to return to UK in recent months, which has led to rumours he may sell Chelsea in the near future.
