Abubakar stakes MVP award against Dynamo Minsk

Fresh from being voted man-of-the-match as FK Slutsk battled FK Vitebsk to a 2-2 draw last weekend, erstwhile Golden Eaglets’ defender, Aliyu Abubakar has yet promised to steer his club away from defeat against Dinamo Minsk in an upcoming Belarusian Premier League tie.

Though FK Slutsk are currently in the relegation zone with only two points from five matches, Abubakar said his side Will continue to fight to ensure their survival at the end of the season, adding he was ready to replicate his last week’s man-of-the-match performance at Vitebsk against sixth-placed Dynamo Minsk in this weekend’s fixture.

“ Of course, I’m happy to have been picked as the man-of-the-match in our last week’s away game against FK Vitebsk and this can only boost my confidence to do more for my club,” stated Abubakar who was recently handed his favourite jersey number 6 at FK Slutsk.

“ The competition in the league here is tough but I’m confident we are going to bounce back and move out of the relegation very soon.

“ Our next game at home against Dynamo Minsk is going to be tough but I have no doubt that we can beat them so that we can gradually move away from the relegation zone.

“ On my own part, I’m ready to do more so that I can justify my selection as the man-of-the-match against FK Vitebsk.”
Abubakar, a FIFA U-17 World Cup winner in 2013 in the UAE, arrived FK Slutsk from PS Kemi Kings in the summer
He was handed jersey number 18 at the start but has since reverted to his favourite jersey number 6 at the turn of the year.
“ Number 6 is so special to me because apart from June which is the six month of the year being my birth month, it was the number God used to present my career to the world when we won the World Cup in 2013.”
Since his glorious outing with the Golden Eaglets almost six years ago , the burly defender has also featured for Kuopion Pallosura (KuPs) in Finland and FC Dila in Georgia.
