Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium will be ready soon, contractor assures

 

There is cheering news for the fans of Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi as the contractor handling the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium has promised that the renovation work on the pitch would be completed this month.

The Bauchi state government had in 2007, commenced work on the pitch to be upgraded to meet international standard. It is the first time in several years that the pitch will be re-laid- since it was used for the hosting of the FIFA U17 World Cup, Nigeria ’99.

The contractor handling the pitch, Reform Sports West Africa, told SportingLife.ng on Thursday that the 50mm power grass to be used for the pitch and other materials arrived in Bauchi on Thursday.

In a chat with SportingLife.ng, the company representative said they are back to work after all necessary things had been acquired.

“I can tell you that we have the grass to be used for the stadium now. We are back to finish the project because everything is on the ground now. The work will be completed this month. I am assuring everybody in the state and country that the stadium would be upgraded to meet international standard. We are ready to provide one of the best pitches in the country at ATBS,” a company representative said to SportingLife.ng

It is understood that the same contractor handled Karkanda Stadium in Katsina State and Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan Oyo State.

Wikki Tourists is currently using Pantami Stadium in Gombe for its Nigeria Professional Football League home matches since work started at the ATBS while using Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University pitch and Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for their training session.
