AC Milan could rival West Ham for £40m Tammy Abraham

AC Milan could offer Tammy Abraham a way out of Chelsea — delivering a blow to West Ham’s hopes of landing the England striker.

Milan are one of a host of clubs who have been put on alert by Thomas Tuchel’s handling of the 23-year-old and are monitoring his situation ahead of the summer.

But West Ham are also keen on taking him to the London Stadium, particularly if David Moyes leads them into the Champions League.

Chelsea will want in the region of £40million if he does depart, as Tuchel looks to bring in at least one top-class striker, with Romelu Lukaku joining Erling Haaland and Sergio Aguero on his list of targets.

Chelsea’s asking price will be the major obstacle for any interested parties – West Ham included. Leicester are another side who could enter the race for his signature.

Abraham has failed to convince Tuchel he can lead his attack and has become a peripheral figure since the German’s arrival in January. That could cost him his place in the England squad at this summer’s European Championships – and has also alerted a number of clubs to his potential availability.

Italian clubs are increasingly looking to the Premier League as part of their recruitment strategy, with Milan already capitalising on Fikayo Tomori’s lack of game-time when completing a loan deal for the centre back in January. That agreement also included an option to buy, which could see his move become a permanent one.
