AFCON 2019: Eagles to spy on Burundi in Tunisia

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will be sending one of the Super Eagles assistant coaches to Tunisia to monitor Burundi who face the country’s senior national team in a friendly on June 15, seven days before their Africa Cup of Nations Cup group opener against the Super Eagles.

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr who has been keeping tabs on all their group opponents since the conclusion of the draws said he is not taking their East African opponents who are making their debut for granted

Burundi will fly to Tunisia from Qatar where they are presently camped for the friendly.

“I have a Tunisian assistant, Nabil Trabelsi who will watch this game. One of my assistants watched the game between Madagascar vs Luxembourg played two days ago. They have a good organisation. They have a French coach and lots of their players play in France,” Rohr told reporters at a press conference in Asaba on Thursday.

He, however, urged his players to be prepared for any condition they are presented in Egypt.

“So we have to be ready for all conditions. So we have to be ready physically. Preparations are not only physical. There is discipline, organisation, tactics. In all these departments, we have to be ready, everybody wants to go far in the AFCON, which means we have to play seven games. Six games gets us into the semis. We want everybody to be fit.

Burundi were unbeaten in the qualifiers in a tough group that included playing against Pierre Aubameyang of Gabon, Mali, and South Sudan.
