AFCON 2019: Kalu vows to end competition on a high

Super Eagles impressive attacker Samuel Kalu has promised to put in his utmost best to propel the Nigerian senior national team to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) starting on the 21st of this month in Egypt.

Kalu who has returned to fitness after coping injury while playing for his French Club Bordeaux told SportingLife.ng exclusively from his base in France that he has been working hard on his fitness level and preparations to be super ready for the AFCON in Egypt.

Kalu is a very fast wing attacker who combines effectively with Ahmed Musa or Samuel Chukwueze on Eagles wings said Nigeria is a big favourite to win this year’s AFCON in Egypt.

He also vowed to put in his best if selected for the final squad for the Nations Cup since the tournament would be his first ever tournament for the Eagles as a national team player.

He also told SportingLife.ng that his Bordeaux Club Coach was very happy with his selection for the provisional Eagles squad for the Egypt’s AFCON.

First I feel very happy to be among the 25 players in the list and I am very grateful to the team selectors most especially the team Manager Coach Gernot Rohr for having the believe in me and counting me worthy to be in the team. I say thank you Coach.

The only thing Incan do to reward him isto put in my very best to help the Eagles to win the AFCON.

“I honestly want to finish the AFCON tournament in an amazing way. I also believe that our chances to win the competition is big too. We are one of the favourites to emerge Champion.

“When my coach heard of my inclusion in the 25-man Eagles list he was very happy that I make the list. He has been encouraging me and also preparing me mentally and physically to come back after the difficult time I had in the past months.

“This is my first major tournament for the Super Eagles. I must say I feel excited and very ready for the task ahead”, Kalu disclosed to SportingLife.ng.
