AFCON 2019: Omeruo happy with clean sheet

Super Eagles victory against debutants Burundi was expected but while fans wanted more goals, Legenes defender Kenneth Omeruo was more impressed with the ability of the team to keep a clean sheet.

The three-time African champions began their campaign in the 32nd edition of the biennial competition with a 1-0 victory courtesy a fine strike by Odion Ighalo following a brilliant pass by Toriono wing-back Ola Aina.

The win was made sweeter after the other Group B opponents Guinea and Madagascar played out a 2-2 draw which meant the Eagles sit top with three points.

The Super Eagles star tweeted via his official handle @omeruo22: “#omeruo #afcon2019 well done boys.. three points clean sheet.. more to come by God grace 💪🏾 🇳🇬.”

Nigeria will return to action on Wednesday when they battle Guinea for a chance to qualify for the round of 16.
