Afcon duties stops Iwobi from traveling with Arsenal To Dubai

Arsenal are heading to Dubai for warm weather training ahead of the Premier League run in, without Nigeria international, Alex iwobi.

Iwobi would be on international duty with the Super Eagles for its Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles on March 22 and the international friendly against Egypt four days later in Asaba.

The Gunners are not expecting to have a full squad for the five-day trip billed for next week since most of its players will be with their respective national teams during the break.

While in Dubai, Arsenal will face Al-Nasr Dubai SC in a friendly to officially open the newly built Al Maktou Stadium. The game will take place on March 26.

“It will be great to get some warm weather training and break up the usual routine as we enter the final stage of the season.

“The facilities in Dubai are fantastic and it will be an honour to be part of the formal opening ceremony for the new stadium,” Arsenal manager, Unai Emery told the club’s website.

With the Gunners not involved in the FA Cup and with an international break coming up, following Thursday’s Europa League tie with Rennes, they will not play again until Newcastle visit the Emirates on April 1.
