AFCON: Expects a tough and physical combat from Sudan, Yusuf warns Eagles

Coach Salisu Yusuf has warned Super Eagles stars to expect a tough and physical combat from Sudan when they trade tackles in an AFCON Group D tie on Saturday.

The Eagles are top of the group after their 1-0 win over Egypt, while Sudan held Guinea Bissau to a scoreless draw in the other game in this group.

Nigeria will book a place in the Round of 16 if they claim another win against the Nile Crocodiles of Sudan.

“The game against Sudan will be tough and more physically exerting than the one against Egypt, but the attitude, commitment, zeal and urgency displayed by the players in the first match will be the same,” Salisu Yusuf vowed.

Captain Ahmed Musa echoed the coaches’ sentiments, promising that the players will not rest on their oars because the journey to the trophy is still a long way off with many hurdles to be scaled along the way.

Sports Minister Sunday Dare has also charged the team to keep their eyes on the ball and avoid any distractions in their quest to be African champions for the fourth time.
