AFCON: Okocha gives Eguavoen a pass mark for beating Egypt

Former Super Egles skipper, Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, has praised Austin Eguavoen for initiating tactics that reduced mighty Egypt to nothing in Tuesday’s AFCON opener in group D in Cameroon.

Speaking on Supersport, Okocha said the Super Eagles interim coach got everything right technically and he was impressed by the overall performance of the team.

“The team played well and I’m not surprised because they have been together for a long time. It shows that they have matured with the way they played against Egypt”, Okocha said.

Okocha said the absence of Victor Osimhen and Odion Ighalo has given other talent in the team the opportunity to showcase their potentials.

“The players are not new to themselves. They have been around for a while only the coach is new after the sack of Gernot Rohr, “he said.

Okocha also praised the effort of Simon Moses, Taiwo Awoniyi, and man of the match Kelechi Iheanacho against Egypt.
