AFCON: Super Eagles invitation surprises Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah

Orlando Pirates centre-back, Olisa Ndah, has expressed his “surprise” at being called up by Nigeria for the AFCON in Cameroon.

Orlando Pirates centre-back Olisa Ndah has expressed his “surprise” at being called up by Nigeria for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

The 23-year-old was included in the squad by new Super Eagles interim boss Augustine Eguavoen after Gernot Rohr’s sacking for the tournament which will kick off on 9 January and conclude on 6 February.

Olisa Ndah has played 13 DStv Premiership matches this season for the Buccaneers since signing from Nigerian side Akwa United.

Speaking to Brila FM, Ndah said: “I’m grateful to God to be here. It was really a surprise to me and I’m thankful for this opportunity.

“We have a lot of good players, we have the capacity to win the Africa Cup of Nations, so I’m just going to do my best, play my part and hopefully everything works out good.”

Nigeria will kick off their AFCON tournament against Egypt on Tuesday, 11 January and will also play Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in their Group D matches.
