AFCONQ2021: Aribo doubtful as Eagles await Iwobi’s Covid test

Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr has hinted that Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi are doubtful for the final 2022 AFCON qualifier against Lesotho.

Rohr revealed this to the press after the team’s Monday training session held at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos.

The Super Eagles Manager said Aribo, who featured against Benin Republic last Saturday, is suffering from stomach problems, while the result of the Covid test carried out on Iwobi is yet to arrive.

“The training was ok, we did like 15 minute work and we are happy. Only one player is doubtful for the game and he’s Joe Aribo, he has stomach problems.”

“We are still waiting for the Covid test on Iwobi, if he’s negative, then he can play and if not we will play with Henry on the left side, like we did the other day,” Rohr said.

Nigeria will be aiming to pick six points against Lesotho after winning the first meeting in Maseru back in November 2019.
