Africa Nations Beach V’ball Cup: 16 countries set for battle

SIXTEEN countries will participate at the 2019 Africa Nations Beach Volleyball male and female Cup Seniors which begins today at the Jabi Lake Park, Abuja.

According to the Secretary General, Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Adamu Maikano, Algeria, Morocco, Uganda, Rwanda, Gambia, and Benin Republic are expected to fight for top prize at the competition which ends on the 28th of April.

Other participating nations are host, Nigeria, Sudan, Mauritius, Niger, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Mozambique, South Africa, Sierra Leone and Lesotho.

The NVBF scribe said the country has all the facilities required to host the beach volleyball cup.

“Nigeria is a force to reckon with in beach volleyball and have produced medals for the country. We believe that the championship will not only bring out the beauty of the game in Nigeria but the infrastructures in the country’s capital.

“We are fully ready to host the rest of Africa in Abuja”, he said

Also, President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation who also doubles as the The Chairman Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission, Engineer Musa Nimrod said the federation is working around the clock in order to ensure the championship is a success.

“It is my joy to see Nigeria host an Africa championship because Nigeria has been consistent in the beach volleyball for over a decade.

“Last year, the country hosts the U21 Africa men’s Championship and we got good commendation from CAVB for our organisation and attitude towards the growth of developmental programs. This time around, we will not let the Africa body down,” Nimrod said.
