Agbaje Idowu shines in 105th Lagos Saturday Boxing Show

Young boxer Agbaje Idowu from Young Star Boxing Club, thrilled boxing fans in the just concluded 105th edition of the Monthly Saturday Boxing Show at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Yaba, Lagos.

Agbaje defeated Rasheed Adeyemo from Always Boxing Club on points in a very tensed three-round 60kg contest and aspiring lightweight thanked the chairman of Lagos Boxing Hall Of Fame, Olawale Edun for his commitment to the growth of boxing and thanked the fans for coming to watch boxers fight.
“I  am grateful to Mr Olawale Edun for given us (boxers) the opportunity to fight and showcase our boxing skills.
“Also, I would like thank my fans who came all the way from Mushin to watch my fight for their support and prayers toward my career.”
Other bouts decided saw the deft Shittu Afolabi from Calisto Boxing Club shock crowd favorite Kayode Mubarak from Kamlat Boxing Club to score a 5-0 unanimous decision victory in the first 49kg fight of the day while the second had Star Boxing Club’s Olawale Quam beat Ahmed Sulimon from Lagelu Boxing Club with second round knockout.
Calisto Boxing Club’s Sodiq Badmus defeated Taiwo Taofeek of Kamlat Boxing Club in the 52kg weight class by a 5-0 unanimous decision.
The female 57kg contest was awarded to Rachael Idam from the Nigeria Army Boxing team as her opponent Habibat Ismail failed her medicals early in the day.
Nigeria Army’s Moses Oriaku knocked out Ibrahim Agbalaya from Ola-Akins in the second round of their 60kg fight while the 64kg contest between Yinusa Mujeeb and Taofeek Ora ended in a 4-1 majority victory for Supreme Boxing Club’s Mujeeb.
Fatai Habeeb of Fighter Boxing Club outclassed Adewunmi Adewale from Progress Boxing Club recording a second round knockout in the last fight of the competition which was a 69kg contest.
The Monthly Saturday Boxing Show is the premier amateur boxing competition organized by the Lagos State Boxing Hall of Fame  and Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association.
