Ahly terminated on Monday the contract of South African coach Pitso Mosimane by mutual consent just three months after signing a new deal.
“Ahly and Pitso Mosimane reached an agreement to part ways after holding a meeting on Sunday to discuss the South African coach’s future with the club,” a statement by Ahly said.
“During the meeting, they all decided that he [Mosimane] should continue in his mission with Ahly as a result of the achievements he managed to accomplish during the previous period,” the statement added.
The Red Devils confirmed that despite the meeting’s outcome, Mosimane asked to leave, saying he is content with what he had achieved with the club.
“Mosimane’s decision was discussed and it was decided to approve his request to part ways with the club and to thank him for the achievements that he accomplished with the club,” the statement concluded.

The 57-year-old, who had just renewed his contract in March until 2024, came under fierce criticism recently after a string of disappointing performances on domestic level and the loss in the final of the African Champions League.
His relationship with the management was reportedly strained following his latest statements to South African media, where he criticised some of the former club’s players for criticising him and also saying that the club’s decisions are influenced by reactions on social media.

“You can’t sleep when you are the Ahly coach. The pressures and expectations are always big. They just say, we must win. Don’t tell us anything. Winning and nothing else in every game, and this can’t always happen,” Mosimane told media outlets last week.
Since joining Ahly in October 2020, Mosimane clinched six titles for the team, including two African Champions League titles, two African Super Cups in 2020 and 2021, the Egyptian Premier League title 2019/2020 and the Egyptian Cup of season 2019/2020.
“When you win and the performance is not good, they are not satisfied, when you lose, things get worse. You have to play well and win,” Mosimane said.
“Some players are very popular on social media, and when they do not play, there are demands for their presence; and when they play and do not score or do not perform up to standards, the fans continue to love them; and when you play someone they do not like, things are reversed,” he explained.
Ahly have announced that Samy Komsan, the former assistant coach, will be the caretaker coach until the hiring of a new manager.
