Ahmed Musa gets N10m for Super Eagles 100 caps amid milestone row

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed that Ahmed Musa will receive a cash prize of N10m after he played his 100th game for the Super Eagles Tuesday evening in Cape Verde.

Top officials announced this gesture will be extended to other players who achieve such a milestone.

However, this comes just as world football governing body FIFA listed the Super Eagles captain’s international appearances as 98 and not 100.

The argument is that the 2018 World Cup qualifier in Algeria was chalked off after Nigeria fielded an ineligible player, Shehu Abdullahi.

A Super Eagles friendly vs Togo in June 2017, which Ahmed Musa featured, was also not taken into account as more than the allowed substitutions were made in the game.

Coach Gernot Rohr made nine changes, three more than what is allowed.

Thus suggesting that Ahmed Musa is still two games shy of being called a centurion the football federation is claiming.
