Aigbogun targets trophy in Poland, team to train in Germany

Flying Eagles head coach Paul Aigbogun has comfirmed that his boys will train in German ahead of the U20 FIFA World Cup in Poland to enable him have full concentration to work on the team after finishing a disappointing fourth at the just concluded U20 AFCON in Niger.

Aigbogun who spoke to Sportinglife.ng in a telephone chat, said he has submitted his World Cup programme to the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) with series of local and international matches lined up as part of build up to the world.

Former Enyimba chief coach revealed that he has made contacts with Nigerian born foriegn players within the age limit to be part of the training camp in Germany as he hopes to fortify the team in all departments.

“I know we didn’t do well in Niger for the AFCON but I can assure you that Poland will be a different ball game entirely. I have learnt a lot in Niger and I kmow the weaknesses of my team during the competition which I hope to correct during the training camp in German. My target is the trophy not reaching semi final”. Aigbogun said.

He also said that the national U20 team will not under rate any country in the group as he targets the maximum 9 points in the group stage.

Nigeria is drawn in group D alongside USA, Ukraine and Qatar for the U20 FIFA World Cup scheduled to commence 23rd May – 15th June, 2019.
