Nigeria’s heavyweight sensation Efe Ajagba rising profile in the USA increased when he recorded another knockout victory at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
This time the Ughelli- born pugilist Knocked out Dell Long with a big right hand 30 seconds into their scheduled six-round heavyweight bout to send the American crashing to the canvas out cold and down for almost a minute on Saturday night.
The 24-year-old Ajagba, who was Nigeria’s sole representative at the Rio Olympics boxing event in 2016 has now won by knockout in all of his five fights since joining the professional ranks in 2017.
He beat Antonio Woods also by a first-round knockout in March and took less than a minute to win his debut against Tyrell Herndon and knocked out Luke Lyons in 2 minutes in his second fight.
Also fighting on the same under-card was Nigeria’s former boxing team captain, Efetobor Apochi who steamed rolled his opponent Cashton Young with an easy third-round TKO.
Apochi after the fight said that Cashton Young was a good test for him but he, The Nigerian Pitbull, does not mess around and can only get better. He also thanked his coaching crew for stretching him and Efe Ajagba mentally.
Meanwhile, Nigerian super welterweight boxer, Nuhu Lawal lost his fight to Marco Miano at the Restaurant Glatthof, Glattbrug in Switzerland.
The Germany based Lawal lost to the Italian via a majority decision after six scheduled rounds and has won just one fight out of four fights since he lost the World Boxing Association International Super Welterweight Title to Michel Soro in 2016.
